The Lazy Boy vs. The Stogie Brothers (Why an Identity Crisis is Great News!)

Have you ever woken up, looked around, and thought, “Am I still dreaming? Where am I? Who the hell are these people?  Who the hell am I? Whose life is this anyway? Aggghhh!!” It’s okay, it happens.  A lot, actually.  You’re not alone.  It’s really great news.  A reason to celebrate! I’m serious. Just take a deep breath ( or 10) and say “I love you” to that little person inside that you’ve been hiding from the world. No matter how old you are or what’s going on for you, it’s officially your turn to be happy.

Maybe you’ve kept yourself small for others, believing that being a martyr is virtuous. Or that suffering is saintly. Or that you aren’t good enough, smart enough, cute enough, rich enough, or any of the multitude of “enough’s” that culture has intoxicated you into believing.  (Or, maybe, like me, you believed that other people’s dreams were more important than your own, so you cast yourself in one supporting role after another.) The fact is, your brand of light is the only light of its kind and is needed, now more than ever.

Please, dear one, please know that it’s never too late to get back in the elevator. Why? Because you’re worth it. That beautiful crazy life led you to where you are now and you know it has to have meaning somehow, right? The world needs your voice, no matter how warbly. Your beautiful adventure lives on the other side of terror and is softly burning.. You may have to start from scratch again, so what? It beats the alternative!  I mean, let’s face it, you don’t even like cigars…
